Kiernan Shipka Shares Her Favorite Mad Men Memories

Posted by Brooke on April 21st, 2015

Around a month ago, Vogue interviewed Kiernan. She talked about her favorite moment with Jon Hamm, working with eight different onscreen brothers, her love for fashion, and more.

VOGUE: Do you have any favorite memories with Jon Hamm?

KIERNAN: Jon is an amazing guy and he’s been great to work with. We’ve always had fun together on set. There’s this photo that I love and he loves and it’s of Sally in her little ballerina costume and she’s sitting on his lap and it’s just heartbreakingly sweet because she’s so happy! It’s just such a sweet moment . . . . It sticks out to me as a special little capturing of their father-daughter relationship.

Growing Up on ‘Mad Men’: A Conversation With Matthew Weiner and Kiernan Shipka

Posted by Brooke on April 21st, 2015

This interview deserves its own post. A few days ago, Kiernan sat down with Matthew Weiner, the creator, writer, producer and occasional director of Mad Men, as well as the New York Times. The interview is highly engaging, and definitely a must-read.

“The show made me fall in love with characters, flawed ones, that are real and have voices.” – Kiernan Shipka

Interviews with Elle and Yahoo

Posted by Brooke on April 21st, 2015

With the end of Mad Men in sight, Kiernan has been giving interviews left and right. And luckily, after a two-episode absence, Kiernan as Sally is finally gracing our screens once again. Below are two excerpts from two new interviews. One is a phone interview with Yahoo, while an Elle representative got to talk to Kiernan in person at the Burberry’s London In Los Angeles event.

We’ve watched you grow up on this show; you were just a kid back in Season 1! What kind of acting training did Mad Men give you?

KIERNAN: Oh my gosh, so much! Mad Men really was my acting school. I mean, from the directors and the writing to working alongside such great people, it was absolutely super influential for me as an actress. I really learned so much just by watching these amazing experts do what they do. For me, it was just taking it all in, and to have that growing up was just really awesome.

How are you feeling about the end of Mad Men?

KIERNAN:It’s very bittersweet. It’s crazy. I’m going to see everyone after – I mean, we’re not done, the show is done. It’s more about letting go of a character I’ve played for half my life. Not being on Mad Men is not normal for me. Being on Mad Men was the normal thing for me for more than half my life. It’s the most familiar thing. So to not have it is just an adjustment.
